So this past week I attended the East Coast Gaming Conference with Light Loop Games! Here are a few highlights:
- Had a blast seeing people play the game I'm working on Metal Shell Neon Pulse
- Got to really immerse myself in gaming culture and see more of Raleigh
- There were so many other great games and ideas there, it was truly inspirational! My favorite so far was this team from Duke University (ToucanAI) who were creating an in-engine tool that would respond to what the player actually says. It seems like the future of gaming to me, to start integrating more speaking directed dialogue, and I think these guys are going to be the ones that bring it!
- I had an absolute blast getting to know more developers up-close and personal at a Barcade called Boxcar! I met some really cool independent developers as well as some people from Epic Games and Insomniac! Definitely exciting to say the least! That hangover on the other hand...
So this new personal project I'm embarking on is going to be a hefty one. I don't want to give away too much details so it'll be a surprise but here's a tweet I shared that is all I'm willing to divulge for now.
"Doing some heavy emotional digging. Going to share when the time is right, will need support for the idea I'm bringing to fruition. Key ideas are empathy, child abuse (all forms), outdated emotion models (unhealthy coping mechanisms), and Gestalt Therapy. Music related." Me on Twitter.
For now that's all I'm willing to share. Talk soon!
